Jan Maxwell has joined the cast of the upcoming Roundabout Theatre Company's off-Broadway production of Joe Orton's Entertaining Mr. Sloane. She replaces previously announced cast member Lisa Emery, who withdrew because the run of Abigail's Party, in which Emery is currently appearing, has been extended well into the Entertaining Mr. Sloane rehearsal period.
Maxwell is currently playing the over-the-top Baroness Bomburst in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which will close on New Year's Eve. Maxwell received great acclaim and a Tony nomination for her work in the show. She previously appeared on the Great White Way in City of Angels, Dancing at Lughnasa, A Doll's House, The Sound of Music, The Dinner Party and Sixteen Wounded. Her off-Broadway credits include Inside Out, The Professional, House, Garden, My Old Lady for which she won a Lortel Award and A Bad Friend.
Entertaining Mr. Sloane, directed by Scott Ellis, also stars Alec Baldwin, Chris Carmack and Richard Easton. It is scheduled to begin previews at the Laura Pels Theatre on February 17 and officially open on March 16.
